The reason I am writing this is because of the Easter weekend coming up. If you are a spiritual person and you enjoy statues and tranquil hideaway this could be an awesome place to visit. This establishment is base upon a farm which is 52-hectares. It is perfect to spend an hour or more with family or yourself focusing on your life and your spiritual thoughts. Being in the temporal world right now these statues and environment make it so easy and enjoyable to relax here.
Holy Family Hills is located at Barangay Tamborong sits on a 52-hectare hilly property surrounded by vegetation, a river, mango, and other trees, as well as farm animals. If you go to Guimaras island and take a day tour Holy Family Hills will be part of your itineraries.
As you enter the place you’ll find yourself walking around and exploring the statues just like I did.
Welcome to Holy Family Hills. Come on and let’s explore what’s on the inside.
Today is Good Friday, Good Friday is one of only two days in the year that Roman Catholics do not have Mass. As I’ve started to walk around, the different statues surrounding the place will surely capture your attention.
The 1st station is The Last Supper. The final meal that, in the Gospel accounts, Jesus shared with his Apostles in Jerusalem before his crucifixion.
Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples, “Sit here, while I go over there and pray.
In the New Testament, the Sanhedrin trial of Jesus refers to the trial of Jesus before the Sanhedrin (a Jewish judicial body) following his arrest in Jerusalem and prior to his dispensation by Pontius Pilate. (source)
According to three of the Gospels, a woven crown of thorns was placed on the head of Jesus during the events leading up to the crucifixion of Jesus. (source)
(John 19:17) – “They took Jesus therefore, and He went out, bearing His own cross, to the place called the Place of a Skull, which is called in Hebrew, Golgotha.” (source)
Lord Jesus, the weight of the cross made you fall to the ground. The weight of our sin, the weight of our pride, brought you down. (source)
From the Gospel according to Matthew. 27:32; 16:24
As they went out, they came upon a man of Cyrene, Simon by name; this man they compelled to carry his cross. Jesus told his disciples, “If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. (source)
From the Gospel according to Luke. 23:28-31
Jesus turning to them said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children. (source)
Jesus is nailed to the Cross. The shroud of Turin gives us an idea of the unbelievable cruelty of this procedure. Jesus does not drink the numbing gall offered to him: he deliberately takes upon himself all the pain of the Crucifixion. His whole body is racked; the words of the Psalm have come to pass: “But I am a worm and no man, scorned by men, rejected by the people” (Ps 22:7). (source)
10th – Jesus Promises Heaven to the Repentant Thief. We adore you, O Christ, and we praise you.
Because by your holy Cross you have redeemed the world. (source)
“Woman, behold your son!”7Then He said to the disciple, “Behold your mother!” And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home. (John 19: 25-27)
For Christ died for sins once and for all, a good man on behalf of sinners, in order to lead you to God. He was put to death physically but made alive spiritually (1 Peter 3:18)
From the Gospel according to Matthew 27:59-61:
Joseph took the body, and wrapped it in a clean linen shroud, and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn in the rock; and he rolled a great stone to the door of the tomb, and departed. Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were there, sitting opposite the sepulcher. (source)
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”(John 11:25-26 )
1 Peter 2:24 “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds, you have been healed.”
We stayed almost an hour roaming around and reflecting ourselves as we visited the 14 stations. Before we decided to go to our next destination we took a shortstop nearby the big cross located in the front side. There was even a small souvenir stall and store located in the entrance part of the place.
A little of your coins won’t hurt, you can share your donation or even buy some souvenirs before leaving holy family hills.
Before we end our Holy Family visit, we took some photos together with my sister. She’s my travel buddy for my Western Visayas journey. What a great escape!
Happy birthday to my lovely older sister. It just so happen that your birthday falls on Good Friday. And may all the goodness in life be with you. Happy travels.
Let there be peace and love to everyone. Happy travels and have a great weekend.
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
